# Privacy Policy

Scout4Work helps you review Upwork job listings, score fit, draft proposals, and research which jobs are worth pursuing. This policy explains what data is handled when you use the app or browser extension.

Scout4Work is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Upwork.

## Data We Collect

We collect only the data needed to provide the product features you use:

- selected Upwork job/listing/detail data available to your signed-in Upwork
  session that you choose to send to Scout4Work;
- saved jobs;
- profile context, notes, settings, and proposal guidance you submit;
- proposal drafts and generated analysis;
- browser extension activity related to Scout4Work actions, such as save,
  refresh, status check, analyze, draft, login, and extension API-key setup;
- authentication information, including account email, auth provider identifiers, session state, and extension API-key records;
- product usage data needed to operate the service, such as credit usage, API call timing, errors, and abuse-prevention signals;
- prompts, notes, or instructions you submit when using AI features.

We do not collect or store full payment card numbers. Payment details are processed by Stripe or another payment processor. We may receive and store limited billing metadata, such as payment processor customer ID, Checkout Session ID, PaymentIntent ID, payment status, credit purchase amount, refund or dispute status, and receipt identifiers, as needed to operate paid features, provide support, prevent fraud, and maintain business records.

## What We Do Not Collect

Scout4Work is designed to limit unrelated data collection:

- We do not collect Upwork passwords.
- We do not collect your full browser history.
- We do not access unrelated browsing activity.
- We do not automatically submit proposals.
- We do not automatically message clients.
- We do not sell personal data.

## When We Collect Data

The extension processes job and account-related data only after you take an action, such as clicking save, analyze, draft, import, sign-in, or similar commands.

The extension does not send Upwork passwords or Upwork authentication tokens to
Scout4Work. Upwork page tokens used for selected job detail requests are kept in
memory for that request and are not logged or stored by the extension.

## Why We Use Data

We use collected data to provide and improve user-facing features, including:

- job analysis;
- fit scoring;
- proposal drafting;
- internal product research, analytics, and quality improvement, using aggregated or de-identified data where practical;
- account authentication;
- abuse prevention and rate limiting;
- improving analysis quality and product functionality.

## Where Data Is Sent

Relevant job, profile, prompt, analysis, and proposal data is sent to our backend only when required to provide requested features. When AI features run, relevant context may also be sent from our backend to an LLM provider so the requested analysis, fit score, or proposal draft can be generated.

For extension save and refresh features, Scout4Work may receive selected
Upwork job details, client/job metadata, saved-job status identifiers, and the
minimum account-related job state needed for Scout4Work features. The extension
removes unused user-specific job relationship fields before sending selected job
details to Scout4Work.

We do not share personal data with third parties except service providers required to operate requested features, such as AI model providers, authentication providers, payment processors, database providers, or hosting infrastructure.

## Cookies And Analytics

Scout4Work uses authentication cookies or similar session storage so you can sign in and stay signed in. We currently use Supabase for authentication.

We do not currently use Google Analytics, PostHog, Vercel Analytics, or similar third-party product analytics tools. If we add analytics later, we will update this policy.

## Selling Data

We do not sell your data.

## Human Access

Humans do not read your job listings, saved jobs, analysis, proposals, profile context, prompts, or account email except when you ask for support and consent to the access, or when needed for security, abuse prevention, or legal reasons.

## Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect stored account and job-related data.

## Retention And Deletion

We keep saved jobs, generated analysis, generated proposals, prompts, credit records, and account information while they are needed to provide the product, maintain account history, prevent abuse, resolve support requests, or meet legal obligations.

You can delete saved jobs in the product. You can request account deletion or deletion of account-related data by contacting us. After a deletion request is verified, we will delete or de-identify account data unless we need to keep limited records for security, abuse prevention, payment records, or legal compliance.

## Limited Use Statement

Data collected by Scout4Work is used only to provide or improve the extension's user-facing features. We do not use this data for unrelated advertising, sale, or transfer.

Scout4Work's use of information received through the browser extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

## International Users

Scout4Work is operated from the United States. If you use Scout4Work from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
